This site (Pass Pilot Exams) and each course on it are owned and operated by DataPig LLC. By accessing or using them, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Study aid only. Every course here is an independent exam-preparation tool, provided for educational purposes only. It is not professional advice, and using it does not guarantee any examination result or outcome.
No affiliation. DataPig LLC is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the FAA or any government agency — FAA test names identify the exams only. Per-course disclosures:
- Private Pilot Written Prep: Based on 14 CFR Parts 61 & 91 and the FAA Private Pilot ACS (FAA-S-ACS-6C). Verify current FAA rules before flying.
- Instrument Rating Written Prep: Based on 14 CFR Parts 61 & 91, the AIM, and the FAA Instrument Rating Airplane ACS (FAA-S-ACS-8C). 60 questions, 2.0 hours, 70% (>=42 of 60) to pass. Original analogous questions - FAA operational test items are not reproduced. Verify current FAA rules before any operational decision.
- Commercial Pilot Written Prep: Based on 14 CFR Parts 61 & 91, the AIM, FAA handbooks, and the FAA Commercial Pilot Airplane ACS (FAA-S-ACS-7). 100 questions, 2.5 hours, 70% (>=70 of 100) to pass. Original analogous questions - FAA operational test items are not reproduced. Assumes a Private Pilot baseline and drills the commercial delta. Verify current FAA rules before any operational decision.
- ATP Written Prep: Built to 14 CFR Parts 117, 121, and 135 plus the FAA handbooks (PHAK, Airplane Flying Handbook, AC 61-138 ATP-CTP) and FAA-S-ACS-11A (the ATP ACS) - all US-government public domain. One credential, two in-exam variants: ATM (ATP Multiengine, the Part 121 airline path) is 125 questions, 70% to pass (88 of 125), 3.5 hours per the Oct 2025 testing matrix, requires the ATP-CTP graduation certificate first, and the result is valid 60 calendar months; ATS (ATP Single-engine, the Part 135 path) is 90 questions, 70% to pass (63 of 90), no ATP-CTP. The FAA publishes no per-topic percentage split, so the area weighting here is empirical (Part 117/121 regs heaviest), shown honestly. The testing-matrix row (the 2025 time reduction proves it moves), the ACS revision, ATP-CTP course prices, any Part 117 amendment, and the annual AKT volume stats can change - verify the current FAA materials before testing. Original analogous items; no commercial prep-bank content (Sheppard/Gleim/ASA/Dauntless) is reproduced.
- CFI Writtens Prep: Built to 14 CFR Part 61 (subpart H), the Aviation Instructor's Handbook (FAA-H-8083-9), the PHAK/AFH, and FAA-S-ACS-25 - plus the FAA-published FIA and FOI sample-question sets (all US-government public domain; no copyrighted commercial bank is reproduced). The initial-CFI written gate is TWO separate FAA tests, both pass 70%: the Flight Instructor - Airplane (FIA), 100 questions in 2.5 hours (70 of 100); and the Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI), 50 questions in 1.5 hours (35 of 50). Since September 1, 2024 the FOI requires an instructor endorsement (or pilot-school graduation certificate) to sit; FIA needs none. CY2025 pass rates ran ~95% (FIA) and ~99% (FOI) - the writtens are the easy gate; the initial-CFI practical is the hard one. The 70% standard is stable, but the question-count/time matrix rows, the handbook/ACS revisions, and the FOI test-authorization policy can change - verify the current FAA materials before testing. - CFII Written Prep: Built to the FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix (rev. 2025-10-22) and public-domain 14 CFR Part 61/91: the FII (Flight Instructor Instrument, Airplane) written is 50 questions, 2.5 hours, 70% to pass (>=35 of 50), FAA-set and uniform nationally (no state variance); minimum test age 16; NO endorsement or authorization required to sit. An existing CFI does NOT retake the FOI (61.191(b)); CFII-as-first-instructor-certificate needs the FOI per 61.183(e) unless excepted. Knowledge test valid 24 calendar months (61.39(a)(1)(i)). Practical standard is FAA-S-8081-9E, a PTS - not an ACS. Covers the Instructor Overlay (currency/IPC/logging/privileges) at the deepest weight, the Routing FAQ (which written do I need: FII/AIF/FOI/IRA), then the IRA-knowledge re-load: Alternates/Fuel/Lost-Comms, Approaches/Plates/Holding, En-Route & VOR, Weather for IFR Decisions, and Instruments/Partial-Panel/Scan-Teaching. One purchase, priced under a rote-bank incumbent and far under a $200-300 re-teach course, for a buyer who needs a re-load, not a rebuild. Original analogous items; no FAA item-bank content is reproduced.
- Ground Instructor Written Prep: Built to the FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix (rev. 2025-10-22) and public-domain 14 CFR Part 61/91: the AGI (Advanced Ground Instructor) written is 100 questions, 2.5 hours, 70% to pass, FAA-set and uniform nationally (no state variance); minimum test age 16, certificate at 18 (61.213(a)(1)). Covers the GI Certificate privilege spine (14 CFR 61 subpart I) at 24% weight - the BGI/AGI/IGI privilege triple, the AGI-except-instrument carve-out, and the Dec 1, 2024 61.215(e) rule barring an AGI from training an initial-CFI applicant - plus Regulations at AGI depth, Performance & Weight-and-Balance, Weather, Airspace, Aerodynamics, Aeromedical/ADM, the FOI companion gate (50Q/1.5h/70%, required for most first-time GI applicants unless 61.213(b)-waived, corpus shared with the CFI Writtens course on this site), and the IGI/BGI decision layer. One purchase covers the AGI drill, the FOI gate briefing, and the add-IGI decision - against Sheppard's roughly $140 per-test stack. Original analogous items; no FAA item-bank content is reproduced.
Intellectual property. The site, its design, original content, audio, and software are © 2026 DataPig LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. All practice items are original study material; no proctored exam content is reproduced. You may use the site for your personal, non-commercial exam preparation only.
Payments & refunds. Each course is a separate one-time purchase, not a subscription — you are billed once per course and never auto-renewed. Purchasing one course grants access to that course only. If you are not satisfied, you get a full refund within 24 hours of purchase — processed automatically. Request it in-app (Help → Request a refund) or email support@passpilotexams.com. When a refund is issued, paid access to that course ends. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Provided “as is.” The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DataPig LLC disclaims all warranties and is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site.
Changes. DataPig LLC may update these Terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
